Think of it like a team race in which your team has to reach checkpoints at the same time, so your top speed is limited to what the slowest person can do, even if you have 9 olympic sprinters in your team they are going to be slowed

Mainly because most people play competive multiplayer with 0 mods, so when you try to join with something they don't have it simply it won't let you.
