Mount & Blade is the only one of it's kind. Some games that you might like if you play bannerlord are Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Total War, Crusader Kings and Chivalry 2. There are 2 modern warfare M&B style games I know of. One is Freeman Guerilla Warfare, but don't get your hopes up on this one.

yes it is normal from what I can tell.I made my own kingdom, wait till you see the non stop attacks there to :) start crushing armies. gain fame and loot. After playing for many hours i started working on creating my own (imperial kingdom). I've done the noble quest and the assemble banner quest succesfully. After quite some time i managed to fullfill all the requirements for my own kingdom. But when i talk with Istiana, i don't get the option to create my kingdom. i can only 'support' a kingdom. Save Game where you start as the ruler of a small independent Empire Kingdom with a Town and a Castle. You are the ruler of the Argoros Clan (you have their lords from normal playthrough as part of the Clan). You own Epicrotea and Mecalovea Castle. This is a un-modded savegame.

It is not possible to "usurp" a faction.
