The first pre-LCI 335D's E60's had a few common problems with them but the latest should be close to bulletproof. Definitely try and get some sort of proper BMW / Dealer warranty as long as the price is not another $10K more than the equivalent car Privately etc.

It now seems that a few others have had the same problem, infact, there's a video on youtube that someone has posted with the same fault BMW E60 2005 525D Transmission warning on first start. - YouTube It seems that some people have fixed the problem by changing the DDE relay and others have said this made no difference.
E60 Coolant dissappearing Help needed. Hi guys , hoping you can help me with a real weird problem. So a few weeks ago I noticed my coolant was disappearing and there was gunk on the coolant cap (pic attached). There were no visible leaks so my local indy had a look and told me the water pump was faulty and there was a leak near it.
For the restraint system failure to pop up, one of the airbags, sensors, seatbelt tentioners has recorded a fault. It could have been a "low power" fault on the module, but I highly doubt it.
